Easy to set combination. Certainly seems to be more robust than the 175, as well as hopefully and most importantly more weatherproof. We’ll find out after it spends a few months in the harsh ocean side environment!I bought this after replacing my well worn 175 lock with a new version 175D and realized the newer version did not have the same solid feel. I stumbled across the 975 and it’s exactly what I was looking for. Combination deals operate smoothly and overall feels much more solid than the 175D I picked up at ACE hardware. Not needing a key to change the combo is a nice feature. It is however significantly more expensive than the 175D.works goodLove it. Never need to remeber my keys again.Bought 10 of these locks from another online retailer thinking it was just a newer version of the 175 to put on our job boxes at work.. This lock does not have the sprung shackle.. You cannot enter the combo and press the lock to open it, it has to be pulled out.. I looked all over and this is not stated anywhere on the packaging.. so now I am stuck with a couple hundred dollars worth of locks that we cannot use and have two job boxes that have to get the locks pried off..You can pick it without using tools by feel by pulling up on the shackle in about 30 seconds. NOT a good lock.This is an improved version of the popular Master 175, according to Master Lock. The 175 was not known for being the most secure lock. You can find many videos on the internet of people easily bypassing those locks with simple and cheap tools. I cannot confirm if the internal mechanism has been improved to be more resilient to that, but I would take a guess that it has been.Compared to the 175, the dials are MUCH smoother and require a lot less force to spin. Setting the lock's combination no longer requires a special key/tool. Setting the combination is now done by rotating the shackle to a set position. (It's easy, just read the directions).The lock is slightly large in all dimensions compared to the 175. It should fit in most places a 175 fit.Overall, very pleased!
